NEW YORK, NEW YORK!!!! Woah, has it really been almost a month since I have written last? Oops! Sorry all. It's been quite busy and stuff! But I can't NOT post about one of the most fabulous trips that I have ever taken in my LIFE!!!! Thanks Mom and Dad! My wonderful parents took all of the married kids in the family and their spouses to an absolutely jam packed trip to New York for a few days, and I tell you what...that was a needed few days refresher for me that's for sure! (Beware of travelog...if you so desire, skip to the bottom for some cool pics!) Cole and I packed up the kids on Tuesday afternoon and drove to Richmond, dropped off the kids, and headed to NY on Wednesday! The flight was a rather long, and very interesting one filled with crazy moms at their wits ends with their kids (I felt so bad for this mom...she was so wiped out, I could tell because I was there too, and was just having struggles!), beat boxing dude behind me that tapped on my chair the ENTIRE flight, and all sorts of other stuff! The flight was actually VERY nice and relaxing! Who knew that 4 interrupted hours on a plane could be so relaxing!
So we got there, taxied to our hotel, and of COURSE went to the nearest Pizza Place and scarffed down some dinner at 1 a.m.! Healthy you say? Oh, that was only the beginning! When us Miles' get together, we know how to EAT! We seriously didn't stop eating the entire time we were there, and we ate at some fantastic places! Carnegie Deli where the Corned Beef sandwiches REALLY ARE a foot tall! Amazing and SO yummy! Lots of pizza places, a little breakfast cafe/grocery store/market where we ate breakfast every morning, and some fun restaurants here and there. It was so much fun!
We did LOTS of fun things. The first day, we were able to do some sight seeing, go to the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art), the David Letterman show, (actually quite amazingly, we were walking by the theater and just decided that we wanted to go in and check it out for a minute and walked straight in to the line where they were giving out forms for people to be able to come to the show! We put our names in the lottery and ALL GOT IN!! It was SO great and so much fun!) and then we were able to go to see Mary Poppins which was absolutely amazing! The staging was SO cool, and the actors were so wonderful. Mary Poppins had the BEST voice, and it was so much fun to see such a fun childhood movie of mine brought to life on stage! The next day was packed as well! We woke up and after breakfast, we experienced MY first ride on a Subway- ever! Cole's too! It was just as fun as ever.:) anyways, we took the bus up to the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island, and wow was that ever amazing! It was so neat to see such a wonderful icon of America, and then to see where all the immigrants came through was very humbling as well. Who knew I had so much! I sure do/did, but don't realize it ever! Makes you really stop and think, that's for sure! Then we headed up to Ground Zero- which they have now moved into a little museum and are charging money for people to enter! What is THAT all about! So we just checked it out from the outside. Then we headed to China Town to do a little bit of finagling! I hit the jackpot there in China town! That type of stuff is so much fun for me. To see people barter and try and get stuff down is absolutely hilARIOUS to me, and it is fun for me to do as well! So that was SO much fun. Then that night, we headed to the METS game! Go Mets! They won too, which is a definite plus! Who knew I would be such an avid Mets fan! (Don't worry Rockies, you're still my #1) By this time in the trip, we are all SO flippin worn out, but if you know my mother at all, you know that this is unacceptable! We don't stop unless we are dying! Got places to go, things to do! So the next morning, we woke up ridiculously early again and actually headed to the Manhattan Temple! Wow, how amazing is THAT building! What a little slice of heaven. SO cool to just be walking along a New York street and then enter into the temple! It was so neat. It was incredible to be in a session with so many people that I love that are going to be with me for eternity! So cool! We headed to Carnegie deli after that, and then MERCIFULLY, my mom let us take a 30 minute power nap! Boy I tell you, we were all out like LIGHTS! After that, it was off for a stroll down 5th Avenue and to a wonderful afternoon in Central Park! Who knew that there could be such a big park ANYWHERE!! Seriously, so awesome! They have EVERYTHING there! New York would go crazy without that park I'm sure. Where else would they go to see a little green! We rented some fun bikes while we were there from some dude on a corner and let me tell you, they were WINNERS! We all took our lives into our own hands by renting those bikes I'll tell you what! During our bike ride, we got a call from dear Rachel (my little sister, and the ONLY one that wasn't able to accompany us on our trip-well, Bry too, but he's on a mission and doesn't count!- and Rach thinks she's having an appendicitis attack! WHAT! Poor little thing! Seriously, EVERY time that my parents go out of town, something happens to her. So mom and dad spent some time on the phone getting some things coordinated for poor little Rach while we rode around the park! Oh, and by the way, the bike path through Central Park, even though it IS a one way street, is MUCH safer than riding your bikes back DOWN 5th Avenue, which is what we decided to do to get back in time to turn our bikes back in! SCARY! Ty ALMOST got hit by a bus, but that's an entirely different story. But that night, the culmination of the entire trip happened for me. We were privileged enough to go and see WICKED! Oh man, I have been so bugged about how hyped people have been about this play, but finally let myself go , and started listening to the music and became hooked! I was SO excited to see this, and Cole kept on telling me that I was going to be let down, but MAN was he wrong! What a tremendous production! Oh man...the cast was absolutely fabulous, the staging was amazing, and the music was/is seriously breathtaking and overwhelming! I couldn't have loved it more, and to top it all off, Cole got me a ticket to go and see it with my girlfriends for Mothers Day! What a thoughtful guy eh? But it was SO wonderful! I loved every second of it, and wished that it would have gone on for days!
The trip had to come to an end sometime I guess. We woke up the next morning and couldn't BELIEVE that we actually had to get out of bed so early and headed back to the airport for a very uneventful and very relaxing plane ride home! SO FUN! Thanks SO MUCH Mom and Dad for letting us experience such a wonderfully fun place with you guys. We couldn't have had a better time, and loved every second of it! Can we go again tomorrow?

Just being SO excited after Wicked! Unfortunately, the screen was scrolling up as we took the picture...DOH!!!!

In front of the "Boat House" in Central Park...notice the paper STILL in the wheels of my bike! Don't let that fool you, the brakes didn't even work! YIKES!

Me and my cute parents at the ball game!

Everyone getting ready to cheer on the Mets! GO METS!

Enjoying the Mets Game! How fun is watching Baseball! One of my favorite things to do!

Courtney, my lovely Mother, and I all ROCKIN' Time Square! Seriously, could that place BE any bigger! WOW!

Crazy wax figure outside of the wax museum...what? Weird!

On the Statue of Liberty Ferry- looking at the Manhattan skyline! SO COOL!!!

The whole crew...except Cole of course who was taking the picture! Sorry 'bout the shadow!

My mom and I posing as a couple of Immigrants...IMMIGRAAAANT!!!! (West Side Story for the slow ones:))

Time Square...duh!

Can you spot the Angel Moroni? That was SO neat! As we pulled up to where the temple was supposed to be, our taxi driver turned our attention to the Guilliard (sp?) School of Music and in the reflection of the glass, I saw the Angel Moroni! Talk about cool!
